Cornelia Horak

Cornelia Horak (born July 15, 1966 in Vienna ) is an Austrian singer ( soprano ).

Cornelia Horak comes from Vienna, where she studied recorder with Ernst Kölz at the Conservatory and with Hans Maria Kneihs at the Musikhochschule.

She has been a passionate choir singer since the age of ten, with Voces Vienna , Concentus vocalis and La capella , among others . She took her first singing lessons at the Volkshochschule Wien 13 with Hilde Rössel-Majdan , whose first student she was at the Goethean Conservatory founded in 1990 . In 1993 she received her diploma with distinction.

From 1993 to 1999 she was a member of the Innsbruck State Theater , after which she moved to the Vienna Volksoper for a season , and from 2000 to 2007 she was a member of the ensemble at the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz in Munich.

There she sang roles like Ilia ( Idomeneo ), Fiordiligi ( Così fan tutte ), Pamina ( Die Zauberflöte ) and Marzelline ( Fidelio ). She is equally at home in operettas with roles such as Hanna Glawari ( The Merry Widow ) and Orlofsky ( The Fledermaus ). In addition, Horak already played the main female roles in Hello, Dolly! and Kiss Me, Kate .

Cornelia Horak made her debut at the Graz Opera in the 2007/08 season as Lisa ( Countess Mariza ). Cornelia Horak lives with her family in Vienna.
