Cornelis Abrahamsz. Boom (* October 1601 in Amsterdam , † August 22, 1651 ibid) was an Amsterdam ruler of the Golden Age .

biography

Cornelis came from the influential Boom patrician family . His parents were the Amsterdam regent Abraham Boom and Jannetje de Vry (1575-1644). Boom studied at the University of Leiden . In 1628 he was named pensioner of the city of Amsterdam. The following year he married Maria van Schoonhoven (1611–1639). Since this marriage did not produce any children, the sex of Boom died out with Cornelis Boom's death.

In 1639 Boom was the republic's ambassador to Poland and Danzig. Due to the counteraction of Amsterdam's regent Andries Bicker , this matter could not be brought to an end. In 1650 he resigned from the pension office. The following year he was accepted into the Amsterdam Vroedschap and was appointed mayor in the same year . Boom died a short time later.
