Cornelis De Boer
Cornelis De Boer (born May 26, 1880 in Leiden ; † August 7, 1957 ) was a Dutch Romanist , Medievalist and linguist.
Life
De Boer received his doctorate in 1909 at the Sorbonne with the thesis (Ed.) Philomena. Conte raconté d'après Ovide par Chrétien de Troyes (Paris 1909, Geneva 1974) and was a high school teacher in Amsterdam. In 1912 he gave an opening lecture at the University of Groningen entitled La Normandie et la renaissance classique dans la littérature française du XIIe siècle (Groningen 1912, Utrecht 1973). In 1917 he held an inaugural lecture at the University of Amsterdam with the title Autour d'un mot , and in 1920 as a professor at the University of Leiden with the title Considérations sur l'intérêt de la littérature française au Moyen âge . De Boer was dean of the literary faculty at Leiden University. He was a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences .
