Cornelis van Eesteren
Cornelis van Eesteren (born July 4, 1897 in Alblasserdam , † February 21, 1988 in Amsterdam ), also known as Cor or Cornelius, was a Dutch architect and town planner .
Life
From 1922/1923 he was a member of the De Stijl artist group . He implemented his idea of the functional city from 1929 to 1960 as an urban planner for Amsterdam , among other things when planning the Jeruzalem housing estate . Van Eesteren was a leading contributor to the constitution of the Athens Charter . From 1930 to 1947 he was chairman of the Congrès International d'Architecture Moderne .
