Corporate ASE

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Corporate ASE is a font family by Kurt Weidemann that was created between 1985 and 1989 and was digitized and published by URW Type Foundry in 1990 . With italics , small caps and old style figures, it comprises a total of 47 font styles and consists of the following three font families:

The main goal when designing the Corporate ASE was to achieve a high degree of recognition across the stylistic variants.

Corporate ASE was designed as a corporate typeface for Daimler-Benz and was reserved exclusively for this company in the first few years after its publication. Today it is used, among others, by the party Die Linke for its publications.

Basic shape and proportion

The Corporate ASE trilogy differs according to its classifications, but has the same basic shape and proportions and is interchangeable and combinable thanks to the same spacing, which enables easy handling. Only the sans serif has a fractions of a millimeter larger typeface in order to compensate for the lack of “feet” compared to the two serif fonts Antiqua and Egyptienne.

Walking distance

The corporate fonts run very narrow and are therefore ideal for works with a lot of text and little space. In the juxtaposition of all three groups, you can see that it has been possible to bring the gray effect to a visual denominator and thus to achieve high legibility.

Font styles

The Corporate ASE comprises the variants Light, Regular, Medium, Demi and Bold, each with an italic style; the sans serif is also available in Extra Bold.
