Cortane
The Cortane was a Spanish measure of volume and was primarily used in the province of Catalonia . The measure was quite different when compared as a grain , oil, or wine measure .
Grain measure
- 1 cortane = 4 picoline = 285 3/5 Parisian cubic inches = 5 ⅔ liters
- 12 Cortanes = 1 Quartera
- 48 cortanes = 1 salma
Wine measure
The measure was also approved for brandy .
- 1 Cortane = 344 7/16 Parisian cubic inches = 6 ⅞ liters
- 1 Cortane = 2 Cortarines / Quarteros = 6 Meitadella = 8 Quartos = 32 Porrones
Oil measure
- 1 Cortane = 4 quartos = 183 ½ Parisian cubic inches = 3.7 liters
- 3 Cortanes = 1 Arroba
- 12 Cortanes = 1 Odre
- 30 Cortanes = 1 carga
