The Corviglia-Marguns-Piz Nair ski area is a ski area near St. Moritz . It comprises 71.6 kilometers of slopes and over 24 lifts . It is also a hiking area in summer.

history

The history of the ski area began with the 1913-built Chantarella - funicular . This was followed by the Winter Olympics , which took place in St. Moritz in 1928, and which really sparked skiing in St. Moritz. The Corvigliabahn , also opened in 1928, was built for the Olympics and was the first cable car or mountain railway developed purely for skiing . One year later, the first Swiss ski school association was founded in St. Moritz , and it still exists today and has grown enormously. In Suvretta then in 1935 began with the ski lift Suvretta-Randolins to the ski lift age. The residents and guests of the Suvretta district were able to get to the ski area with their own ski lift. With the Piz Nair cable car and the Bad-Signalbahn built in 1972 , the main mountain railways are now accessible and are still unchanged today. The developed area grew and when everything was fully developed, there was a transition from the massive tow lifts to the more comfortable chairlifts, which in St. Moritz are overly equipped with so-called bubbles.

Although St. Moritz is the better known place, the small neighboring town of Celerina makes up a large part of the ski area and shares the world's first bobsleigh run with St. Moritz . The place opens up the ski area with a modern gondola lift (Celerina-Marguns) Saluver, from 1958 to 1991 a system based on the Bell / Wallmannsberger system . The ski area was built by the Sankt Moritz Bergbahnen (SMBB), which still operates it today.

At the end of 2017 it was announced that the option to pay with Bitcoins was about to be introduced. A dynamic price management is set to September 2018 in view.
