features

The meta armored catfish reaches a body length of 5.5 cm, is relatively high back and has a light, yellow-brown basic color. All fins, with the exception of the dark dorsal fin, are brownish transparent. The iris is golden yellow. A black band extends from the back of the head over the eyes to the “cheeks”. Another, with the same color, runs from the base of the dorsal fin to the rear, bends down at the level of the adipose fin and then extends to the lower part of the base of the caudal fin, but not to the caudal fin. Above the midline of the body there are 23 bone plates, below there are 20 and only two bone plates separate the dorsal fin from the adipose fin. Males stay smaller and are slimmer than females.
