Coryphantha difficilis is a species of plant in the genus Coryphantha from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet difficilis comes from Latin , means 'difficult' and refers to the difficulty of cultivating the plants.

Coryphantha difficilis grows individually. The spherical or egg-shaped to short cylindrical, light blue-gray shoots reach heights of 8 centimeters with a diameter of 6 centimeters. The warts, which are up to 10 millimeters high , point strongly upwards, are conical and overlap like a brick. The four whitish to reddish central spines are very rigid, very curved and up to 2 centimeters long. They are tipped darker. The twelve to 14 whitish radial spines have a brown tip. They are partly stiff, partly slim and have a length of 1 to 2 centimeters.

The yellow flowers reach a diameter of 4 to 5 centimeters. The fruits are green.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Coryphantha difficilis is found in the Mexican state of Chihuahua in the Sierra de la Paíla on alluvial plains and slopes with limestone rubble .

The first description as Mammillaria difficilis by Leopold Quehl was published in 1908. Charles Russell Orcutt placed the species in the genus Coryphantha in 1926 .

Coryphantha difficilis is in the endangered Red List species the IUCN as " Least Concern (LC) ", d. H. not endangered, classified.
