Coryphantha glassii is a species of plant in the genus Coryphantha from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet glassii honors the American horticulturist and specialist in succulent plants Charles Edward Glass (1934–1998).

description

Coryphantha glassii usually branches out of the large underground shoot parts and forms many-headed groups of up to 50 centimeters in diameter. The cylindrical, bright green shoots reach heights of up to 30 centimeters with a diameter of 6 centimeters. The up to 14 millimeters long warts are conical to cylindrical in shape. Their axillae are initially covered with wool and have nectar glands . The two to three straight, yellowish-brown to honey-colored central spines are 1.6 to 2.5 centimeters long. One of them is dominant and directed a little downwards. The ten to 13 yellowish white, up to 0.8 centimeters long radial spines protrude somewhat.

The bright yellow flowers are up to 3.5 centimeters long and reach a diameter of 3 centimeters. The olive-green fruits are egg-shaped. They have a length of up to 1 centimeter and a diameter of 0.8 centimeters.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Coryphantha glassii is common in the Mexican states of Guanajuato and San Luis Potosí on slopes and knolls on limestone.

The first description by Reto F. Dicht and Adrian D. Lüthy was published in 2000.

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (CR) ". H. listed as not endangered.
