Dunes on the Costa Verde

Costa Verde , in German green coast , describes part of the south-western coast of Sardinia in the province of Cagliari ( Italy ). The name results from the green nature around the coastal area.

Like the Costa Smeralda, the coast is very rugged and, in addition to many rugged rock formations, also has some sandy beaches suitable for swimming.

The Costa Verde is characterized by winding roads and crystal blue water. This makes it a popular holiday destination for campers, motorcyclists and divers.

The Costa Verde has the highest dunes on the island with 50  m slm . They are protected and on the beaches there are egg-laying places for sea turtles . Compared to the Costa Smeralda, the area is less developed for tourism, which gives the flora and fauna a retreat.
