Countdown (magazine)
Countdown - The official magazine for the 2006 FIFA World Cup was a German soccer magazine that appeared from October 21, 2004 until the 2006 World Cup . Countdown was published by Medienfabrik Gütersloh GmbH , a Bertelsmann subsidiary based in Gütersloh .
In terms of content, Countdown dealt with topics related to the soccer world championships , especially the 2006 World Cup. A special focus in the reporting was on the German national team , but players and teams from other participating nations were also portrayed.

According to the publisher, Countdown had a print run of at least 250,000 copies. The first issue of the magazine was available free of charge from all official FIFA World Cup 2006 shops . From 2005 the magazine cost 1 Euro and was available at almost all magazine sales outlets. The magazine later cost 1.50 euros and, in addition to the usual sales outlets for magazines, was also available in the official FIFA World Cup 2006 shops, but could not be obtained by subscription.
From Countdown there were special editions with individualized pages for the Official Partners and Official Suppliers of the 2006 World Cup, which then sold these special editions.
After the drawing of the final groups for the 2006 World Cup in December 2005, a special edition of Countdown was published with lots of information about the World Cup .
The magazine was published every two months from 2004 to 2005 and monthly from February 2006. One issue was about 100 pages. One column dealt with the names of well-known football players, which the name researcher Professor Jürgen Udolph explained.
