The Court Tomb of Shasgar is located in the townland of the same name ( Irish An Seas Gearr ) northwest of Rossinver in Aghavoghil bog near Manorhamilton , high above Lough Melvin in County Leitrim in Ireland . It sits next to a limestone outcrop resembling the Burren in County Clare that contains rock formations of bizarre shapes, many of them perforated. Court Tombs are among the megalithic chamber tombs ( English chambered tombs ) of the British Isles . With around 400 specimens, they are found almost exclusively in the north of Ireland or in the province of Ulster in Northern Ireland . Since 1957, when the Irish Court Tombs were recorded, 64 attachments have been added.

The cairn is partially covered by peat and survived up to the height of the (missing) gallery roof. The south side of the very deep courtyard (possibly a “fullcourt” - German  “enclosed courtyard” ) and the exedra with large entry stones and large orthostats and layers of small stones in between on both sides of the gallery are well preserved. The gallery seems to be unsegmented.

Nearby are the Tullyskeherny Court Tombs .
