Manorhamilton

Manorhamilton ( Irish : Cluainín or longer Cluainín Uí Ruairc "O'Rourke's little meadow") is a town in County Leitrim in the northwest of the Republic of Ireland .

The place

Manorhamilton is north of Leitrim, about 25 km south of the Donegal border , on the N16 from Sligo to Enniskillen in Northern Ireland . Sligo is 17 miles to the west and Enniskillen, County Fermanagh is 25 miles to the east. With Bundoran on the N15 in the north of Manorhamilton is connected by a regional road (R280), as well as with the National Road N4 and N17 bypassing of Sligo in the south.

The proximity to Sligo Town means that there are many commuters working there and Manorhamilton has experienced a significant expansion in the past few years of the Irish economic boom. During Census 2006 1158 people lived in the small town.

The megalithic complexes of Tullyskeherny are not far from Manorhamilton.

To the rail transport in Ireland Manorhamilton is disconnected since 1957, and also the bus line from Sligo to Enniskillen Town holds (at least officially) out of town, but by driving only.

Culture

The Leitrim Sculpture Center is located in Manorhamilton and the Lough Mac Nean Sculpture Trail is 10 minutes' drive away .
