The Courtier Islands (English for courtier islands ) are a group of around 24 small and up to 30 m high islands and cliffs in the northern Marguerite Bay off the west coast of the West Antarctic Graham Land . They belong to the group of the Dion Islands .
The islands were discovered and roughly mapped in 1909 during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908–1910) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . The Falklands Islands Dependencies Survey carried out surveys in 1949. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on 31 March 1955 at the context Emperor Iceland (English for Emperor Island ).
