Courtney Wetzel (born February 25, 1989 in Puyallup , Washington ) is an American soccer player who was last under contract with the Western New York Flash in the 2014 season.

Career

In the North American W-League , she played for the Seattle Sounders Women and Ottawa Fury between 2007 and 2011 . In January 2012, she moved to the German regional division SC Sand for six months before returning to Ottawa. In early 2013, Wetzel was hired as a so-called Discovery Player by Portland Thorns FC . She made her league debut on April 13, 2013 against FC Kansas City . On June 6, 2013, Wetzel, also against Kansas, scored her first goal in the NWSL. In April 2014, shortly before the start of the season, she and her teammate Kathryn Williamson moved to league rivals and runner-up Western New York Flash .

National team

In 2010, Wetzel was appointed to the squad of the US U-23 selection, but was not used in any official international match.
