Covas do Rio is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of São Pedro do Sul . The community had 121 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Covas do Rio and São Martinho das Moitas were merged to form the new community of União das Freguesias de São Martinho das Moitas e Covas do Rio .
