Cover 0

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cover 0 is a defense scheme in American football . Each player in the secondary takes a player from the offense on a skill position ( wide receiver , tight ends and running backs ) in the man marking . This is a maximum of five players in the offense, which leaves six defense players with no opponents to cover. These take over the Pass Rush . The aim is to put pressure on the quarterback and take the time to throw a good pass. Due to the susceptibility to big plays , Cover 0 is usually only played in front of the own end zone .
