Craig Gillespie
Craig Gillespie is an Australian film director .
Life
Before beginning his directorial work in the film industry, Gillespie directed commercials for several years. For this work he was u. a. Honored by Directors Guild of America in 2006 and 2010 .
At the age of 19 he moved from Australia to New York City and studied at the School of Visual Arts . In 2007 he made his feature film debut with the comedy Mr. Woodcock . Lars and the women followed in the same year . Gillespie then directed other film and television productions, including Fright Night (2011), a remake of Die ravenenschwarze Nacht - Fright Night (1985). In September 2017, Gillespie presented his biography I, Tonya, about the figure skater Tonya Harding at the Toronto International Film Festival , which earned him a nomination for best director at the AACTA International Awards 2018 .
Gillespie often works with editor Tatiana S. Riegel .
In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
