Crawford Wethington

Arthur Crawford Wethington (* 26. January 1908 in Chicago ; † 11. September 1994 ) was an American jazz - saxophonist .

Wethington attended the Chicago College of Music; In the mid-1920s, he worked with the pianist Lottie Hightower before moving to Carroll Dickerson's band in 1928 ; In 1929 he played in this ensemble in New York with Louis Armstrong . Between 1930 and 1936 he belonged to the Mills Blue Rhythm Band and participated in several recordings. In 1937 he recorded with Edgar Hayes and then worked at Cab Calloway , Red Allen and Adelaide Hall . After 1937 he stopped working as a full-time musician and then worked as a music teacher; in the 1960s he worked for the New York City Transit Authority .
