Crazia (coin)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Crazia , more rarely Cracia, was the name of a silver coin and also an Italian measure of length in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany (see Crazia ).

The small coin was commissioned by the dukes Cosimo I to Franz III. embossed. Many subsequent coins took place in the northern Italian small states. The value at that time was 5 pfennigs .

On the back the holy Baptist was shown standing. The origin of the denomination is presumed from the name of the German cruiser .

The coin was divided like this:

  • 1 crazia = 5 quartrini = 20 denari
  • 8 Crazie = 1 Paolo
  • 12 crazie = 1 lira
  • 64 Crazie = 1 Testone / Scudo
