Release dates

The character of the creeper, as well as the plot premise of the creeper stories, go back to the American Steve Ditko , who was best known as co-creator of Stan Lee's superhero character Spider-Man .

DC printed the first Creeper story in issue # 73 of the Showcase anthology series , in which other "features" were brought into focus from month to month. After this issue achieved satisfactory sales, the figure was marketed in the late 1960s in its own eponymous series called Beware The Creeper , the first issue of which was published in May – June 1968. The series eventually reached just six issues before being discontinued in late 1969.

In the early 1970s, an issue of the First Issue Special series was dedicated to the character, followed by Adventures in Adventure Comics # 445-447 (1976) and World's Finest Comics # 249-55 (1978-79), and a few became in the 1980s Released Creeper stories as backup stories in the back of The Flash series (# 318–323) for years .

A series of stories about a female creeper, written by Jason Hall, drawn by Cliff Chiang and tailored for an adult audience, followed in the mid-1990s and appeared on DC's adult readers label Vertigo . From 1997 to 1998, a turn briefly as was The Creeper titled series around the Creeper on the market reached the 12 issues and Len Kaminski was texted.

In 2006, a six-part mini-series by Steve Niles and Justiniano followed.

action

The eponymous hero of Creeper is former news commentator and talk show host Jack Ryder, who because of his direct, rough nature is not employed by any television station and is forced to work as a night watchman for one of these broadcasters.

In this context, Ryder meets Professor Vincent Yatz, a refugee from the Soviet Union, who gives him a serum that transforms him into a yellow-skinned, green-haired, screeching, wildly laughing, hyperactive, "crazy" creature. As a creeper - as Ryder calls himself in this state - he has superhuman strength, endurance, healing powers, acrobatics and agility. From now on Ryder can switch back and forth between his two personalities - the normal, if somewhat eccentric Jack Ryder and the "crazy" Creeper - depending on what the situation requires. In order to get his journalistic career going again, Ryder staged all sorts of questionable incidents as a creeper - and every now and then does something good - which Ryder reports on exclusively.

Adaptations

The Creeper appeared in the 1990s as the main character of "Beware the Creeper", an episode of the Batman animated series The New Batman Adventures (US dubbing voice: Jeff Bennett ). Based on this television appearance, toy manufacturer Hasbro produced a Creeper action figure - also in the 1990s. The one-shot Generation Hex, published in 1996 by Amalgam Comics , features a character, the Nightcreeper, who is a mixture of the Creeper and the Marvel Comics-owned character, the Nightcrawler.
