DC vs. Marvel and Marvel vs. DC

In the four-part miniseries DC vs. Marvel (# 1 and 4) or Marvel vs. DC (# 2 and 3) let the two publishers pit the greatest heroes of their comic universes against each other to decide the fate of the worlds. The outcome of several of these fights was determined by fans through online voting.

The fights led to the result of 6: 5 for Marvel, a twelfth and final fight could not be ended. In order to avert the complete annihilation of the DC Universe, two powerful beings merged the universes and created the Amalgam Universe.

Amalgam universe

For two months, Marvel and DC published Amalgam Comics , a comic book universe in which their respective characters were merged and only one character named Access , a wanderer between universes, knew the truth. Amalgam Comics was treated like a real publisher that had existed since the 1940's. For example, some of the published stories took place during World War II and there were major fictional events that were amalgamations of real Marvel and DC comic book events . Access finally managed to separate the two universes again with the help of the Amalgam Heroes. Since then there has been an attempt to revive the amalgam universe, but the three-part mini-series All Access did not bring the hoped-for success.
