DC vs. Marvel
DC vs. Marvel (# 1 and 4) or Marvel vs. DC (# 2 and 3), was a four-part crossover that merged the comic book universes of DC and Marvel . It was written by Ron Marz and Peter David in 1996 and drawn by Dan Jurgens and Claudio Castellini . The German editions appeared under the title DC against Marvel in 1996 by Dino Verlag , which published the DC comics in German-speaking countries at the time.

Spider-Man is out and about in New York City . Suddenly he finds himself in the strange city of Gotham City and suddenly comes face to face with a clown (the Joker ). Other heroes and villains feel the same way, they are in a different environment without warning. As it turns out, two overpowering beings who are bored with the constant flow of things and want to create variety in this way are the originators of these events. As the heroes begin to cope with their new surroundings, the two beings who are brothers recognize each other and decide to hold a tournament between the two universes, the battles of which take place in different locations. One character each competes against each other:

- Aquaman (DC) versus Namor (Marvel); Winner: Aquaman
- The Flash (DC) versus Quicksilver (Marvel); Winner: Flash
- Robin (DC) versus Jubilee (Marvel); Winner: Robin
- Green Lantern (DC) versus Silver Surfer (Marvel); Winner: Silver Surfer
- Catwoman (DC) versus Elektra (Marvel); Winner: Elektra
- Lobo (DC) versus Wolverine (Marvel); Winner: Wolverine
- Wonder Woman (DC) versus Storm (Marvel); Winner: Storm
- Superboy (DC) versus Spider-Man (Marvel); Winner: Spider-Man
- Superman (DC) versus Hulk (Marvel); Winner: Superman
- Batman (DC) versus Captain America (Marvel); no winner, the battle taking place in a sewer was abandoned due to sudden flooding
After the final battle between Batman and Captain America, the brothers connect the universes, whereupon the heroes and villains merge into new characters. Eventually they separate again and Batman and Captain America bring the brothers to restore normality in the two universes.

- Spider-Man is played in this comic series not by Peter Parker, but by Ben Reilly. That is why Peter Parker cannot later recall having met the Joker before.
- The two brothers embody the Marvel and DC universes , although that's not directly mentioned in the comic.
- In Gotham City you can see a shop that sells merchandise from Looney Tunes and figures from Pinky and Brain , among other things . As with the DC heroes of the story, the rights to these characters are owned by Warner Bros. Entertainment .
- Readers could vote on the winners of the battles in comic book shops .
- The stories of the fused characters appeared as Amalgam Comics (also in German by Dino Verlag).
