action

The story begins in a warehouse on Gotham City Harbor , where the Joker makes a deal with an unrecognizable partner.

Bruce Banner works on a gamma cannon under a false name in a Wayne Enterprises laboratory in the hope that it can cure him. Suddenly all other employees are incapacitated by laughing gas , only Banner can avoid it by quickly putting on a protective helmet. When he tries to set off the alarm, he is noticed by the Joker and his people who are just entering the laboratory. When they try to hold Banner, he transforms into his alter ego , the Hulk. When Batman shows up, the Joker manages to make the Hulk believe that Batman is his enemy. This leads to an unequal fight, in which the Joker can escape with the gamma cannon. Physically clearly inferior to his opponent, Batman finally calms the Hulk with sleep gas . While the Hulk transforms back into Bruce Banner, Batman enters the scene in his civilian identity Bruce Wayne and offers Banner to work on another cannon on his yacht.

Meanwhile, the identity of the client is revealed by Joker: It is Sharper , who suffers from a strange illness, of which only gamma radiation can cure him. However, the Joker discovers that the cannon was damaged in the escape. So his people, disguised as soldiers, fly on Bruce Wayne's yacht to arrest Bruce Banner. When he becomes the Hulk again, the power of the Sharper and the wish of one of the villains creates a monster that is physically equal to the Hulk, but has a body so soft that it can keep the Hulk trapped in it. Back at the warehouse, the Sharper discovers that the Hulk's own gamma rays can heal him. Then he keeps his word and gives the Joker the power to make everything come true, what he wants. But ultimately his psyche cannot withstand this omnipotence and he collapses.

Joker is arrested again at Arkham Asylum . Batman and Commissioner James Gordon discover that Bruce Banner has disappeared. Gordon wants to start a manhunt right away, but Batman says they owe it to him to let him go.
