José Luis García-López

José Luis García-López (born March 26, 1948 in Pontevedra , Galicia ) is an American comic artist .

Life and work

García-López was born in Spain in 1948. In 1953 he moved with his family to Argentina, where he began to work as a full-time comic artist in the 1960s.

After García-López was able to establish himself there as a draftsman of newspaper comic strips, he moved to New York City in 1974, where he has been working for American comic publishers ever since. He occasionally works as a pencil draftsman, but more often as a post-processing ink draftsman.

Series he has drawn for in the past include Action Comics , Adventures of Superman , Atari Force, Cinder and Ashe , Deadman , New Teen Titans, and Road to Perdition .

Among the draftsmen whose work García-López has inked particularly often in the past include, besides Curt Swan, above all Ross Andru and Trevor von Eeden . In the cases in which García-Lópezs worked himself as a pencil draftsman, he was mostly inked by artists such as Dick Giordano and Joe Rubinstein .
