action

The three protagonists Petra Kowalski, Maren Terbuyken and Lilly Marie Teetz, who assumed they had been chosen to present the TV show "Creeps", are invited to a TV studio in Hamburg. The show is about the interests of young people such as fashion, lifestyle and music. At the first meeting it turns out that the position of the moderator is still available and therefore a casting should be held. This initiates a competition between the three girls. Director Arno, who heads the casting from off , tries to provoke the competitors. After various arguments, the girls show solidarity and begin to defend themselves against the machinations of the station. Finally, they understand that the broadcaster only staged the casting in order to elicit true emotions from the girls with the help of false facts by recording their discussions during the breaks in addition to the casting, in order to use the whole as material for the trailer of the show. The moderator Kathleen was certain from the start.

Petra

16-year-old Petra Kowalski comes from Chemnitz , Saxony, is fashionably dressed and does not depend on the position of moderator because she has a stable social environment in her home country. Therefore, she is calm about Arno's tasks. Nevertheless, it is her goal to become a presenter on the program Creeps, because she has not seen much of the world and would like to experience something new. She does not try to hinder her competitors and is open to other people. She is cheerful, but with the slightest allusion to her origins in East Germany, with which she is very connected, can suddenly change her mood.

Maren

Maren Terbuyken, 17 years old, is interested in environmental protection. She finds it important not only to judge people by their appearance, but also to find out their inner values. During an interview with Lilly, her real motives for promoting the show come to light. She wants the job so that her mother can be proud of her, as it has only given her problems so far. She puts herself under pressure, gets nervous quickly, and often embarrasses herself when trying to bring herself to the fore.

Lilly

The 17-year-old Lilly Marie Teetz from Hamburg is the spoiled daughter of an art director . She is eloquent, intelligent, self-confident and is confident of victory. She sees the other two as competitors. From the start, she makes it clear that she doesn't want to be friends with them. She uses every opportunity to unsettle her competitors. She applied to prove her independence to her father.

Offvoice / OV

Behind the cheerful "good morning alarm clock" voice is the "off-voice" Arno. He works in the direction and explains to the three applicants what they have to do in order to win the casting as "Creeps" presenter. He speaks the current youth slang, loves Anglicisms and the colloquial language. These are all means of tricking young people into believing that they belong to them and that they know how they think and feel. He tries to motivate and provoke the candidates as much as possible in order to collect good material for Kathleen's "Creeps" trailer.

Reviews

"The piece thrives on the resentment of the little people against" those up there "who behave as we always knew: they shout, lie and cheat - always at the expense of the little man who has to pay the bill in the end . " (Esther Slevogt: The Discreet Charm of Populism)

"With his piece CREEPS, Lutz Hübner meets the MTV generation's attitude towards life, describes their desires and longings in a smart and humorous way. He also criticizes the power and influence of the media and the resulting disorientation in our media-dominated world." (Steffen Popp: CREEPS)
