Criminal Case (Engl., Translated criminal case ) is a hidden object game of the French game developer Pretty Simple for Apple iOS , Android and Web browser with Adobe Flash Player .

    Game content

The first part of Criminal Case takes place in the fictional city of Grimsborough, the second in the fictional city of Pacific Bay, where various crimes have to be solved by the player. The third part is called "Save the world" and the locations are spread across all continents. The player avatar is a police investigator who, depending on the task, has to solve hidden objects, sliding puzzles or search images. The appearance of the avatar can be selected by the player using a predefined catalog, with new items being unlocked as the level rises.

    Business model and success

Downloading the app and access to the servers is free (" free-to-play "). The game is financed from in-app sales of “energy”, which is used in the game to be able to select the individual tasks. The energy increases every two minutes, so that the maximum of 110 energy is reached again after just under four hours. Unlike the “ freemium ” business model, it is completely free to play if the player invests more time.

The game worlds Grimsborough, Pacific Bay and Save the World have been offered as separate game apps since 2016.

Criminal Case had 100 million players and 9 million daily players in 2013, a year after its publication. In 2014 it already had 40 million likes on Facebook. By 2016, the game had been downloaded over 50 million times. In 2013 Criminal Case was the “top game” on Facebook and even beat the very successful Candy Crush Saga , Facebook named the game “Game of the year”.
