Candy Crush Saga (or Candy Crush for short ) is a puzzle computer game . It can be played online and is available as an app . The app was developed by King Digital Entertainment for Facebook in 2012 and for smartphones in the same year . In 2013, Candy Crush Saga overtook FarmVille 2 as the most-used game on Facebook with around 46 million monthly users.

Gameplay

The game principle is based on Bejeweled and is a typical casual game .

Each level consists of a board filled with different colored candies and obstacles. The sweets include the “red jelly candy”, the “orange lollipop”, the “yellow lemon drop”, the “green chewy candy”, the “blue lollipop piece” and the “purple grape”. The player can collect pairs of candy by moving them horizontally or vertically. Each level requires the player to set a specific objective, which must be completed in a limited number of moves or in a specific time. Some levels also contain obstacles, such as blocks, waffles, meringue or liquorice swirls, chocolates and bombs. So-called boosters can be earned or acquired to support players in the respective levels. The individual levels have different degrees of difficulty , characterized by difficult , super difficult and nightmarishly difficult .

Various extra sweets can be created from combinations of four or five in a certain composition. Below is a "wrapped candy", a "striped candy" and a "color bomb". Special candies can also be put together to produce a specific effect, such as the color bomb, crossed with a striped candy, turning all candy of that color into striped candy, which is then automatically given to the player.

The game is financed through "in-app offers" that can be paid for on Facebook using a credit card, PayPal, voucher or instant transfer. The player begins with five game lives, which are lost if a level is not completed. If the player has no lives left, he can optionally ask a “friend” for new lives, wait (30 minutes per life) until they have “recharged” themselves, change the clock of the mobile device or buy new lives. Boosters can also be purchased on Facebook.

Candy Crush Soda Saga

In addition to Candy Crush Saga, there is the further development Candy Crush Soda Saga . In contrast to Candy Crush Saga, there are some extensions, for example:

  • Fish: Generated from a 2 × 2 match. When activated, the fish first eats candies with jelly, otherwise it looks for a random candy and removes it.
  • Color takeover: Generated from a match with at least six candies. Replaces the color combined with it with its own color. Example: A color acceptor is created from six green candies. This is combined with a neighboring orange candy. This will turn all orange candies green.
  • New level objective "Find all bears!": There are blue-green gummy bears of different sizes hidden under a layer of ice. They must be freed by playing matches over the ice . A bear is found when the ice covering it has been completely removed.

Initially, Candy Crush Soda Saga lacked the “daily reward”, a wheel of fortune with which various boosters could be obtained. This “daily reward” has now been added through an update.

characters

  • Tiffi (short for "Toffette") is the main character in the game. She is a blonde girl with pigtails and is playable from the first chapter.
  • Mr. Toffee is a tall man with orange hair. He helps players at the beginning of the game and guides them through the tutorial .
  • The Easter Bunny is a rabbit that introduces players to the candy order level.
  • Odus is a blue owl who is part of the dream world of Candy Crush Saga . Odus sits on a crescent moon-shaped scale, which tilts in the appropriate direction depending on the candy removed. If too much of the respective candy is removed, Odus falls down and the level is lost. If enough sweets of the specified color have been removed, Odus flies away for a short time and the corresponding sweets explode. All figures, except Odus, are not really relevant to the game.
