Peter Kronreif

Peter Kronreif (* 20th December 1982 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian drummer of the Creative Jazz .

Live and act

Kronreif received private drum lessons from Christian Lettner and Franz Trattner from the age of ten . After graduating from the Musisches Gymnasium Salzburg in 2002, he began to study drums with Alex Deutsch at the Graz University of Music . After one semester, he moved to the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz to join Doug Hammond , Joris Dudli and Jeff Boudreaux , where he completed his bachelor's degree in 2007 with distinction. During his studies, Kronreif spent several weeks in New York City every year, taking lessons from Jim Black , Gregory Hutchinson , Jonathan Blake and John Riley . He is the drummer of the Philipp Nykrin Trio, which was awarded the New Austria Sound of Music Prize in 2005. As a result, there was collaboration with Harry Sokal , Matthieu Michel , Peter Herbert , Werner Zangerle , Christoph Pepe Auer and in the SK Invitational group with his brother Christian.

In the fall of 2009 Kronreif founded his first band Wayfarers in New York , for which he also composes; the debut CD Gloaming was presented in 2010 in Germany and Austria. He also plays in the groups of Florian Höfner , The Flow , Bastian Stein , Remy Le Boeuf and Martin Reiters Dr. No. Kronreif currently (2018) lives in New York.

Prizes and awards

Almost 30 CD productions earned him the Hans Koller Prize in 2009 in the “Sideman of the Year” category. He also received an annual scholarship for music from the State of Salzburg in 2010.
