Werner Zangerle

Werner Zangerle (born May 29, 1979 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian saxophonist and composer .

Zangerle received piano lessons from 1988; From 1993 saxophone lessons followed, among others with Robert Friedl . From 1999 he studied with Allan Praskin , Florian Bramböck , Harry Sokal , Doug Hammond and Christoph Cech at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz . He completed his studies in 2007 with a master's thesis on the Tristano School with distinction. From Linz, Zangerle went to Vienna , where he performed at the Porgy & Bess jazz club, among others .

Zangerle was involved in a song on the 2003 sampler "Best of Unreleased". This was followed by contributions to albums by the Austrian indie rock band Valina . He worked as a saxophonist on the album "Epode", released in 2005, and on the 2008 album "A Tempo! A tempo! ”He worked as arranger . With the band he performed in Riga and on an Italian tour.

Zangerle is a musician with the band “Memplex”, the free jazz quartet “Braaz”, the “Trio Zavocc” (with Christoph Cech and Raimund Vogtenhuber) and leads the “Werner Zangerle 4” / “Werner Zangerle Quartet” (with Matthias Löscher and Matthias Pichler , Peter Kronreif and Bernd Satzinger used to be there).

In 2012 he founded the Austrian jazz label Listen Closely . Zangerle lives in Vienna .
