Cristóbal Humberto Ibarra

Cristobal Humberto Ibarra (born May 9, 1920 in Zacatecoluca , † February 1988 in San Salvador ) was a Salvadoran poet, essayist and narrator.

Ibarra studied philosophy and literature at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata . As a teenager, he joined the Grupo Seis , an association of avant-garde writers who opposed the dictator Maximiliano Hernández Martínez in their works . From 1959 he was First Secretary and Commissioner for Cultural Affairs of the Salvadoran Embassy in Chile. In the mid-1960s he returned to El Salvador and took over the management of the journalism school at the Universidad de El Salvador . For the novel Templaderales (1957) he was awarded the Premio Centralamericano de Novela , for Francisco Gavidia y Rubén Dario ... (1957) the Premio Centralamericano de Ensayo . For the story El cujarón (1958) he received the Premio en los Juegos Florales de San Salvador , for the Cuentos breves para un mundo en crisis (1968) the Premio Juegos Florales Centroamericanos . With his collection of poems Elegía a Oswaldo Escobar Velada he won the 1969 Olimpiada Cultural Centroamericano Prize .
