Cristina Allemann-Ghionda

Cristina Allemann-Ghionda (born April 20, 1949 in Rome ) was Professor of Comparative Education at the University of Cologne until 2014 .

Career

Cristina Allemann-Ghionda studied German, English and Italian philology in Basel and Turin . She completed her studies in 1973 with a licentiate in Basel, followed by a doctorate in Turin in 1982 after studying while working .

From 1972 to 1975 she taught German and Italian at the primary and secondary level as well as in adult education in Basel. Between 1975 and 1985 she was co-founder and director of two institutes for adult education in Zurich and Basel. She was responsible for the management, the acquisition of third-party funds as well as the planning and organization of conferences and training courses.

From 1985 to 1993 she worked as a freelance researcher, journalist and lecturer in teacher training and studied educational science and sociology while working. From 1990 to 1999 she held teaching positions at the Universities of Zurich (1990–1991), Bern (1993–2000; most recently on behalf of Jürgen Oelkers ) and Geneva (1998–1999). In 1998 he completed his habilitation at the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster with the venia legendi in educational science, with a focus on comparative educational science. In 2000 she was offered a professorship at the Westphalian Wilhelms University and the University of Cologne. She chose Cologne. She retired in 2014. Until 2017 she was co-editor of the journal for pedagogy .
