Cristina Anghelescu

Cristina Anghelescu (born February 22, 1961 ) is a Romanian violinist.

Anghelescu comes from a family of musicians and received her first violin lessons from her father Aurelian Anghelescu. She studied at the Bucharest Music Academy with Ștefan Gheorghiu . Since 1990 she has been the principal violinist of the Romanian Radio Orchestra. She has appeared as a guest soloist with various symphony orchestras in London, Berlin, Moscow, Dresden, Prague, Madrid, Helsinki, Bratislava and Caracas, in the Middle East, Taiwan, Thailand, North and South America and has worked with conductors such as Leif Segerstam , Jukka- Pekka Saraste , Sergiu Comissiona and Erich Bergel together. She was a participant of the Prague Spring and the Helsinki Music Festival and won several prizes in music competitions, including 4th prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in 1986 and 2nd prize at the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition in 1990. On CD she played among others violin concertos by Tchaikovsky , Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Vivaldi and the two concerts by the British George Lloyd .
