Cristofano dell'Altissimo

Cristofano dell'Altissimo (* around 1525 in Florence ; † September 21, 1605 there ) was an Italian painter and copyist .

He was trained as a portrait painter by Pontormo and Bronzino . In 1552 Cosimo I de 'Medici sent him to Como to copy the paintings from the portrait collection of Paolo Giovio . He made about 280 paintings.

Works

The serial portraits are all around 60 x 45 cm in size and show spiritual and secular rulers, generals, philosophers, writers and a few artists.
