The critica is a left-wing student newspaper . It appears once per semester and, with a circulation of 100,000 copies, is by its own account the largest student newspaper in Germany.

The journal first appeared in the 2008/09 winter semester. Since then it has been the semester newspaper of Die Linke.SDS . It is financed with funds from Die Linke.SDS and advertisements . Both the print edition and the online magazine are created by an editorial team under joint responsibility.
The critica includes the subjects of politics, education, the social situation of students, culture and satire.
Since December 2013, the daily newspaper Neues Deutschland has published a monthly blog by the critica editorial team that takes a critical look at the situation of students.
Critica online
The critica editorial team has been running its own online presence since autumn 2011. Articles and interviews in the areas of politics, education and culture appear several times a week on critica-online. There is also the section "Theory and Practice" in which longer texts with a more theoretical element appear at irregular intervals. In addition to university policy topics, general topics are also prepared for a left-wing student target group.
