The Croix de la Valeur militaire ( German Military Merit Cross ) was established by decree on October 12, 1956 and is intended to honor people for military service in war zones who are not eligible for the Croix de guerre .

The award is made by the French Minister of Defense or by persons appointed by him.

Appearance

The decoration is a cross made of bronze , under the cross arms a thick laurel wreath runs. The bust of Marianne turned to the right can be seen in the attached medallion . All around REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE (French Republic). On the back there is the four-line inscription CROIX DE LA VALEUR MILITAIRE (Cross for Military Merit).

Carrying method

The award is worn on a red ribbon with a wide white central stripe and narrow side stripes on the left side of the chest.

Others

Just like the Croix de Guerre, the Croix de la Valeur militaire can be awarded with different ribbons. With a bronze palm branch for honorable mention in the army report , with a gold star for mention in the report of the army corps , with a silver star for mention in a division report and with a bronze star for mention in a brigade or regimental report .
