CrossAsia

CrossAsia (also xAsia) is a specialist portal for Asian studies. The East Asia Department of the State Library in Berlin is responsible for setting up the portal and coordinating the project , which until 2015 also included the special collection area 6.25, East and Southeast Asia, and from 2016 the specialist information service CrossAsia together with the University Library and the South Asia Institute of Heidelberg University - FID Asia supervised. In 2015 CrossAsia , until then the Virtual Specialized Library of East and Southeast Asia, merged with Savifa , the Virtual Specialized Library of South Asia. The primary goal of CrossAsia is centralized and free access to relevant printed and electronic resources for Asian studies in both Latin and Asian scripts.

The development of the portal is supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG). CrossAsia was a partner of the interdisciplinary portal vascoda until 2011 .

  • Metasearch: CrossAsia's metasearch conceals a virtual subject catalog that enables simultaneous searches in German and international library holdings and databases relevant to Asian studies. Research can be carried out in both Latin and Asian scripts.
  • Online Guide East Asia (OGEA): OGEA offers access to intellectually selected and commented electronic resources based on quality criteria, especially Internet sources. Technical browsing is just as possible as a search with filter options.
  • Electronic databases: For registered users in Germany, the East Asia Department of the Berlin State Library provides a large number of bibliographic and full-text databases for Asian studies via CrossAsia .
