The place was best known through the novels by Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown, a tiger cat. These detective novels cover the adventures of the tiger cat Mrs. Murphy and the corgi bitch Tee Tucker.
The place was named after Claudius Crozet in 1870 .
