Crvena jabuka ( Serbo-Croatian for red apple ) is a successful pop band founded in 1985 in Sarajevo ( Bosnia and Herzegovina ) with musicians from what was then Yugoslavia . The band now lives and works in Croatia .

history

In its original line-up, the band consisted of Dražen Ričl (guitar and vocals), Zlatko Arslanagić (rhythm guitar), Dražen Žerić (keyboard and vocals), Aljoša Buha (bass) and Darko Jelčić (drums).

In 1986 the band recorded their first album Crvena Jabuka , which sold very well. Soon after, she started a tour. The first performance was supposed to take place in Mostar , but it never happened because Dražen Ričl and Aljoša Buha had a fatal accident on the way there. The band stopped working. In honor of the two band members who died in the accident, a concert was held in Sarajevo, at which numerous musicians and groups of all generations performed.

In January 1987 the band recorded their second album, which they dedicated to the two deceased band members. This was followed by the albums Sanjati , Tamo gdje ljubav počinje , Uzmi me kad hoćeš ti and Nekako s proljeća . Due to the Bosnian War , the planned tour had to be canceled and the band took the biggest break of their career so far.

In 1995 Krešimir Kaštelan, Mario Vuković, Danijel Lastrić, Nikša Bratoš and Saša Zalepugin joined the band. Further albums and concerts followed in Serbia , Croatia , Bosnia and Herzegovina , Slovenia , Germany and Denmark .

style

Crvena Jabuka is known in the former Yugoslavia for songs with a melancholy and melancholy character.

The themes of love, being on the move and nature predominate and are often synthesized with elements of the Bosnian lifestyle; a recurring motif is the city of Sarajevo and elements of Bosnian slang often appear in the songs.
