Dražen "Žera" Žerić (born July 20, 1964 in Mostar , Yugoslavia ) is a Bosnian singer and one of the founders and singers of the Bosnian band Crvena Jabuka . With his fondness for Chucks and his "spiky" hairstyle, he is one of the most famous singers in the former Yugoslavia.

Life

Žerić was born in the city of Mostar . His parents were professors at the University of Sarajevo . He has a brother.

Žerić grew up in Sarajevo, where he attended elementary and secondary school as well as the piano music school. He later graduated from Sarajevo University with a degree in economics .

From the beginning to the middle of 1985 Zlatko Arslanagić formed a band with his friends Dražen Ričl , Aljoša Buha and Cunja Jelčić , to which Dražen Žerić belonged. This was the beginning of Crvena Jabuka .

Crvena jabuka became one of the most successful bands in Yugoslavia. In 1986 the band had a car accident on the way to a concert in Mostar, in which singer Dražen "Zijo" Ričl and guitarist Aljoša Buha died. The other band members were seriously injured. A year after the accident, the band started making music again. In 1990 she won a music award in Belgrade.

During the war in Yugoslavia , Žerić spent two years under the Serbian siege in Sarajevo, doing humanitarian work and organizing charity concerts.

At the end of 1994, Žerić moved to Zagreb , Croatia and received Croatian citizenship. In early 1995 he signed a contract with the Croatian music label Tutico to initiate a reunion of Crvena Jabuka .

The comeback album U tvojim očima was released in the spring of 1996. Since then the band has released four studio albums and one concert album, of which more than 500,000 copies have been sold worldwide. This made them the band with the most record sales of all time from the former Yugoslavia.
