Cuarteto Rotterdam is a German - Dutch tango- argentino ensemble from Berlin , Stuttgart and Meißen .
history
In 2004 Michael Dolak and Susanne Cordula Welsch from Germany and Judy Ruks from the Netherlands founded the Cuarteto Rotterdam together with Frances Dorling from Great Britain . All four were completing their tango studies in Rotterdam at the Rotterdam World Music Academy at this time . Since its founding, the focus of the artistic work has been on maintaining the repertoire of the various tango epochs as well as the performance of Argentine and European tango compositions of the present. By combining all styles of tango between tradition and modernity, the quartet can often be found in concert halls, at tango balls and international music and tango festivals.
The Cuarteto Rotterdam can often be experienced together with other artists and ensembles , such as the Saxon Vocal Ensemble , the Dresden Kapellsolisten or the Argentine tango singer Sandra Rumolino.
Concert tours have taken the Cuarteto Rotterdam to Germany, Italy , Switzerland , France , Austria , Argentina , Turkey , Spain , Scotland and Sweden, among others .
After the main creative focus of the ensemble shifted to Germany in summer 2008, the tango bassist Tino Scholz joined the ensemble.
Tango bassist Anna-Maria Huhn has been a permanent member of the ensemble since 2014.
