Cumnock

Cumnock is a place in the geographic center of the Australian state of New South Wales . It is located on the across the country, but now disused railway line from Molong to Dubbo . At the 2011 census, Cumnock had a population of 275 people. The place was named after the Scottish town of the same name in Ayrshire , home to an early settler named Straborn.

Cumnock was the first community to develop a "farmhouse rental program," which made farmhouses available for symbolic rent of one dollar to attract new families to the area. This program has been adopted by some other rural communities.
