Coordinates: 33 ° 6 '  S , 148 ° 51'  O Cabonne Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 6,022.3 km² and has about 13,386 inhabitants.

Cabonne is located in the Central West region of the state, approximately 290 km west of the metropolis of Sydney and 285 km north of Canberra . The area includes 81 hamlets and hamlets, including Baldry, Boree, Cargo, Cudal, Cumnock, Manildra, Molong, Nashdale, Ophir, Toogong and parts of Borenore, Canowindra, Eugowra, Spring Hill and Yeoval. The seat of the Shire Council is in the city of Molong in the center of the LGA, where about 1,700 inhabitants live.

Cabonne Shire almost completely encircles the Orange City LGA area .

The Cabonne Council has 12 members who are elected by the residents of the six wards (two councilors each from Goobang, Yuranigh, Canobolas, Belubula, Ophir and Nangar Ward). These six districts are defined independently of the localities. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
