Cup damper
A cup is a mute shape for brass instruments , primarily for trombone and trumpet . The cup damper is mainly used in jazz . In some variants, part of the damper can be moved so that different sound characteristics can be achieved. It consists mostly of metal , but also of ( glass fiber reinforced ) plastic .
