Curt Cappel

Curt Cappel (born July 13, 1944 in Obersarten , Schwetz district , † March 4, 2014 in Minden ) was a German animal and documentary filmmaker .

Life

Cappel grew up in Minden and Wiehl in Oberberg . In 1963 he went to Australia , where he made several industrial films and a documentary about a luxury liner's voyage around the world. From 1970 to 1981 he worked as a cameraman for Heinz Sielmann and his TV series "Expeditions into the Animal Kingdom".

In the early 1980s he went into business for himself and settled in Minden in 1982. He produced numerous animal and documentary films for television, teaching and school, both in the native nature and in the South Seas.

He wrote and photographed for numerous daily newspapers, magazines and magazines. In 1990 he wrote the book "Nocturnal Animals Overheard with the Camera". In the last years of his life he mainly gave lectures in schools and retirement homes.
