Curt Victor Clemens Grolig

Curt Victor Clemens Grolig (* 1805 in Meißen ; † November 27, 1862 in Versailles ) was a German landscape and marine painter .

Life

Grolig first learned as an autodidact before exhibiting still lifes with flowers and fruits in Dresden in 1822 . From 1827 he studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden and was a student of the landscape painter Johan Christian Clausen Dahl from 1828 to 1833 . 1834 to 1836 followed trips to and stays in Northern Germany, Denmark and Norway, in 1836 and 1839 participation in the exhibition of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen . In 1838 Grolig was in Munich and in 1839 with the support of King Friedrich August II of Saxony , and in 1842 in Algeria. From around 1844 Grolig became a student of Jean Raymond Hippolyte Lazerges and Benjamin Roubaud in Paris . From 1845 he was based in Versailles as a student and employee of Horace Vernet . Grolig died on November 27, 1862 in Versailles.
