Cut Copy is an Australian electro-pop band from Melbourne . Their music is known as Dance Punk or Electropop and is heavily influenced by New Wave and Post-Punk . Cut Copy are under contract with the music label Modular Recordings.

history

After Dan Whitford had originally founded Cut Copy as a one-man project and released a single and an EP under this pseudonym, Tim Hoey, Mitchell Scott and Bennett Foddy joined the band as additional members in 2003.

A year later, her debut album "Bright Like Neon Love" was released, the songs on which were consistently written and produced by Whitford himself. Only a short time after the release, however, Foddy left the band again.

The next album, "In Ghost Colors", was only released in 2008, although according to the band's internal statements it would have been completed in 2007. With this album they achieved their international breakthrough and relatively high chart positions, for example # 1 in Australia. It was the first release with their newly recruited bassist Ben Browning.

In the following years further works were released, in 2011 the album "Zonoscope", for which individual songs were released in advance, and "Free Your Mind" (2013). Both of them again with great success at home and abroad.
