Cuthbert Eden Heath

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cuthbert Eden Heath O.BE (* 1859 in Southampton , United Kingdom , † 1939 in Anstie Grange , United Kingdom) was a British insurance manager.

Heath headed the Lloyd's of London insurance market in London. On his initiative, the ailing ship insurance exchange changed at the end of the 19th century to a company that insured virtually every risk. In the specialist literature he is referred to as "legendary" and "the father of Lloyd's in the 20th century" because of his services. He also made significant contributions in the field of earthquake insurance.
