Cymbomorpha is a genus of humpback chirps of which 9 species from South and Central America to Mexico are described. The species C. prasina and C. vaginata are known from several countries.
The Cymbomrpha leafhoppers are relatively large, approx. 6 to 9 mm long, mostly light brown or orange in color, often with a greenish tinge, sometimes with dark spots. The pronotum is more or less helmet-shaped, laterally compressed, with a median keel and a point to the rear, but which does not reach to the rear end of the forewings. Sometimes there are also smaller extensions at the front. The fore wings are transparent or dark, with five apical and three discoidal cells.
Way of life: The adult Cymbomorpha leaf hoppers are observed individually. Nothing is known about the larvae and other ways of life. C. vaginata have been found on Fabaceae in Colombia .
